1968 Corvette convertible with a numbers matching 327 300 h.p. 4 speed. The odometer reads 74000 miles but it has not registered properly since 2009. The car has manual steering, manual disc brakes, a 4 speed m-22 transmission and a 3.09 ratio final drive. I am the forth owner with the owner before me owning the car for 28 years I can account for the last 34 years of its life. It has had one lacquer repaint paint done in the early eighties of the original Corvette bronze color. At that time it also had a replacement convertible soft top installed, which is still on the car. The paint still has a nice shine, but has many pops, spiders and stars in the finish. What ever body work that was done was minor, you can still spot all the factory seams in the car. It was just a color recoat when painted. Please note that there are several imperfections in the paint due to age that are not showing up in the pictures. The doors, top, and hood all fit and operate properly. The windshield wiper cover operates proper as do the headlight doors. The matching numbers engine starts and runs very strong and with the higher drive ratio it will offer 16 mpg at highway speeds. It is a pleasure to drive. The heater core has been bypassed but is still in place. The factory ignition tin is missing. I believe everything else is correct and complete in the engine compartment. The tire are Four years old and have less than 1500 miles on them and still look as new. In 2009 I decided to have the rear wheel bearings checked and serviced. This lead to new swing arms, new bushings, new spindles, new bearing, new half axle joints, new brakes, new flex lines. Everything in the rear suspension that looked weak or worn was replaced. The interior is the proper Brunt orange color and is very serviceable and complete. The factory radio does not work or the factory clock. The frame has been inspected and is free of rot, never been patched and is very solid. This is not a restored car. It is a well maintained adult owned collector car that is very serviceable and complete. The car has a optional hard top that is the proper Corvette bronze color. It is in storage and not available for pictures but does go with the car. 74,160 miles from the odometer. January 23, 2012. |
